Sturgeon for Tomorrow

January 27, 2010

Sturgeon for Tomorrow is advertising it’s 28th Annual Fundraising Banquet for the Northern Half Chapter on February 6, 2010 at the Darboy Club. Tickets are on sale for $30 each–contact Wayne at 920-725-1206. There will be cocktails & raffles from 5:30-7 followed by dinner & program.

I found this info about Sturgeon for Tomorrow on their Facebook page:

“Sturgeon for Tomorrow is a nonprofit organization that began as a group of people who wanted to propagate a unique fish called the Lake Sturgeon, native to the Lake Winnebago System, so they started our organization’s first (Main) chapter in 1978 which was located on the east side of Lake Winnebago.

Since that time, four other Wisconsin based chapters were started: Southwest Chapter located in Fond du Lac, Northern Half Chapter located in the Neenah/Menasha/Appleton/Stockbridge area, and West Central Chapter located in Oshkosh. The newest to be formed is the Upper Lakes Chapter. Based out of Winneconne, this chapter was started to represent the areas surrounding, and those who spear for sturgeon on, Lake Butte des Morts, Lake Winneconne and Lake Poygan.

Each chapter holds a fundraising dinner once a year and money raised from these dinners is used for projects for the benefit and propagation of Lake Sturgeon. In 2007 Sturgeon for Tomorrow donated $26,913.89 to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and other Sturgeon Study Groups and projects, for a total of over $659,060.92 since our beginning in 1978.”
