Sturgeon Spawning Update as of April 6, 2010

April 7, 2010

I called the sturgeon hotline @ 920.303.5444 today to get the latest update (from Tuesday, April 6) on lake sturgeon spawning and it sounds like sturgeon have started to show up in the upper Fox River, but haven’t been seen spawning in the Wolf River yet due to weather/water temperature.  Current viewing sites are at the Princeton Dam and Eureka Dam on the upper Fox River.  The DNR expects to start seeing sturgeon by the end of this week or sometime next week.  Also, don’t forget to check out the Wolf River cam for an underwater view of the sturgeon at wolfrivercam.com. Here is an article from the Post Crescent titled “Warmer weather means earlier sturgeon spawning”. I will keep you posted as I receive more info.  See earlier posts here for more info on lake sturgeon spawning in Wisconsin.
