Did everyone get a chance to look over the newly released 2011 Winnebago System Sturgeon Spearing Regulations?  If you haven’t already, check out my last post with a message from Ron Bruch.  Below are the dates for the upcoming Sturgeon For Tomorrow Banquets.  For more info, refer to the last page of the regulation pamphlet.

If you’re looking for a way to get rid of the Christmas tree this year, read this article from the Post Crescent.  Some discarded Christmas trees are of course used to mark the ice roads that cover Lake Winnebago every winter to guide sturgeon spearers through the ice road system.

I spent some time searching for sturgeon in the news lately and came across an interesting article that I wanted to share.  Although there are still many questions concerning this issue, it’s a good reminder of the impact we have on the environment everyday.

Also, I found this video put together by the University of Wisconsin Sea Grant Institute to get you excited up for the coming season!  For those of you who aren’t familiar with sturgeon spearing, this pretty much sums it up.
