February 27, 2011

Sorry for the late post–I’ve been out of town.  Looks like the 2011 sturgeon spearing season is officially over–congrats to all successful spearers!

This update was posted with permission from Ron Bruch and the Wisconsin DNR:

Sturgeon Spearing Report 27 Feb 2011

I’ll be sending out my summary reports hopefully by the end of March. We’ll get the tag return and fish age letters out to spearers whose fish had a tag and/or a spine removed for aging by December 2011.

Next up – getting ready for our spring walleye spawning assessment, followed by sturgeon spawning assessment on the Wolf and upper Fox Rivers. We are doing a lot of exciting stuff this spring – stay tuned – more info to come soon.

Thanks for all of your support for the Winnebago Sturgeon Program.
