“Winnebago Sturgeon Spearing Report – Monday February 20, 2012

Surprisingly good harvest considering the low effort today. Sixteen fish brought in total, again primarily on the west shore, although of the 16, 4 fish were brought in to east shore stations. Spearers are figuring out how to get out to their shacks safely, most with 4 wheelers, but some still using vehicles.

Today’s totals:

Sturgeon Harvest Totals for February 20, 2012Sturgeon Vignette: “Sturgeon harvests since 1941; factors that affect the harvest…and…How does 2012 match-up against the lowest seasons on record?”

Read all about it…….What factors affect the sturgeon harvest on Lake Winnebago and have these factors changed over time since we began keeping records in 1941? What were the best and the worst seasons on record? How many can you recall or did you experience? How does 2012 match up against the all-time poor seasons? Great stuff!
